#NewYearBetterMe

New Year Better Me

Like I said last year, I’m not a big resolutions person. I can’t seem to stick to them. That said, I kept seeing #NewYearNewMe and #NewYearSameMe all over Instagram and Twitter. Again, I thought, nahhhh. Not for me. And then I thought, #NewYearBetterMe, because really that’s all I’m trying to do. I’m not trying to reinvent myself. The current me isn’t bad, but she’s definitely got some room for improvement. So yeah, #NewYearBetterMe. Done.

What Am I Going to Do?

Good question. There’s plenty I can improve on, and things will likely change throughout the year. I may do a check-in post later on, I may not. We’ll see. For now, I want to work on the following things.

  • Focus on finances. Admittedly, I wasn’t as financially prepared for the move to Spain and all the travel I would embark on. In order to continue living this way, I need to buckle down a bit, make more and save more.
  • Focus on my routine. The move to Spain also completely hijacked my daily routine and I’ve basically been living like a college kid. It’s been terrible for my productivity, the blog and my writing. I’m going to try and get squared away now.
  • Focus on me. I’ve said yes to tons of stuff since moving to Spain, because I wanted to meet people and make friends. Basically the FOMO has taken over my life. I just didn’t want to miss out, you know? Now is the time to zero in on what I want to do.
  • Focus on relationships, especially building them here. So far I’ve made some new friends, but I want to build out my professional and personal networks in Madrid and throughout Spain at least! This also means dating! I’ve never really talked about dating because I’ve never really dated, but 2019 will be the year I finally get out and meet some folks! I’ve already started that process and so far so good!
  • Focus on health. Spain has been incredibly good to me, both mind and body, but I fell out of my workout routine once I got here. Four months of barely working out means I’ve been feeling weak and flabby lately and I’m not ok with that.

So yeah, I’m not sure if #NewYearBetterMe will be a series on here or not, but I will definitely be talking about it over on Instagram and Twitter. Heck, I’ve already started over here!
