Quick Getaway: Louisville

A friend and I recently took a 48 hour trip to Louisville, Kentucky to go see an Eric Church concert. Initially I didn’t think anything of it, I just figured it’d be a fun car ride singing and laughing, a great concert and then more driving back home. Lucky for me, we ended up staying in an adorable AirBnb in NuLu, which seems to be a popular area with several boutiques, restaurants and bars in walking distance. Here’s a recap of our quick getaway to Louisville.

Where we stayed | Look at how cute this AirBnb was! I didn’t book it, my friend did, so I can’t say much about the host other than the place was great and we loved it!

Front entrance. It actually used to be a retail space!
Living room from entryway.
Adorable kitchen between the living and bedroom areas.
A king bed! So much better than a hotel double!

Eric Church | Admittedly, I didn’t take great photos in the concert, I was too busy enjoying myself! This was my sixth time seeing Eric Church and he still reigns as top performer in my book. He is so passionate, intense and sings so well you don’t even have to like his music to like his performance. That said – I’ve been a fan since Sinners Like Me.

Just him and a band. No need for all the craziness.

What we did | We did go out for drinks and dinner at Galaxie in NuLu, but we were pressed for time so I didn’t get any photos there. It’s too bad because my meal was delicious! I had the Rosy Crucifixion to drink and Chilly Killy to eat. Definitely recommend.

The next morning, we spent some time walking around exploring NuLu. We passed several boutiques, warehouses and dainty shops before making our way to the recommended breakfast spot.

Love the vibe here!
This is the outdoor seating in Garage Bar. So cool!
Louisville’s Before I Die wall. I didn’t add anything to it. Maybe next time!

We ended up grabbing breakfast at Please & Thank You, a local coffee shop. The coffee was strong, just how I like it, and the bagel was pretty tasty (even if it could have used more lox)! They also had some yummy-looking pastries too… Maybe next time!

Coffee and my usual: lox on a bagel.

I had to take a picture of this amazing art. We didn’t eat at Royal’s Hot Chicken – not enough meals  – but it’s a great spot for my next quick getaway to Louisville!!

I mean, come on. So good.

Lastly we met up with a family friend by the river and walked around. Let’s be honest. The Ohio River is not pretty, but it is really neat that the other side is Indiana!

Overall, I was surprised at how beautiful some of the surrounding areas were and by the awesome vibe in NuLu. I would definitely like to go back to explore some more! If only I could find the time for another quick getaway to Louisville!
