Travel Goals for 2017

Last August, heading on my six week trip abroad!

Oh man. I love traveling. When I sit down and think about it, I have to reel myself in a bit. I spent the last six months of 2016 unemployed, so I traveled a ton – way more than is feasible in a regular year for me. I’m also in a completely different stage of life than I was last year (more on that some other time), so I can’t afford to travel like that. I’ve decided this year I’m going to focus more on smaller, shorter trips.

I also continue to realize how little of the United States I’ve seen in comparison to the rest of the world, which is crazy! The US is huge and has so much to offer. Plus, I love the charm and quirks of America’s smaller cities and would love to explore them a bit more.

Here are my travel plans for 2017:

  • Los Angeles – this was one of my two ‘bigger’ trips for the year, especially in terms of cost.
  • Louisville – a quick overnight trip for a concert, but we did the most we could with our time!
  • Destin – going for a long weekend in September for a friend’s bachelorette.
  • Somewhere snowy – our family Christmas this year is supposed to be to somewhere cold (I’m from Miami), so I’m hoping Sun Valley, Utah or Colorado!
  • Louisville (again)  – I plan to make a weekend trip at some point to explore the city a bit more!
  • Clarksville, TN – planning a day trip since it’s only an hour away.
  • Memphis, TN – a weekend trip since it’s only a three hour drive.
  • Dallas – maybe a three day weekend trip since I’ve got friends who live there. (hint, hint guys!)
  • Boston – planning a weekend trip in the fall. I’ve always wanted to see Boston in the fall!

I know it doesn’t seem like much, but when I first came up with my list of trips I wanted to take this year, I went a bit crazy. I was definitely not taking into account cost and time, and would basically have planned to be out of Nashville two weekends a month! This list is the trimmed down version of the original. Who knows. Maybe some other trips will come up spontaneously!

Any suggestions for the locations I have planned?
