Life Update: 2023

Well friends, it’s been a minute. The last update I really posted was about how I was planning on making van life happen and then I sort of…got busy…making it happen. And I did! In January 2022, I bought my very own van. By February I was on the road full time.

How I thought vanlife would go:

After consuming so much vanlife content on IG and Youtube, I just knew that was what I wanted to do. I was going to live and travel full time in my van, work my regular job full time, and create awesome content for you all! I was inspired. I was also way off-base.

How vanlife went:

I had one of the best years of my life. I traveled through 33 states, spent 3.5 in California alone, saw a desert for the first time, took an actual swim in the Pacific Ocean for the first time, and learned a lot…about myself and the places I visited. (I also got a very interesting awakening into the privilege I have and how the way I look can be a disadvantage and advantage as I move through the world, but that’s a story for another time.)

What I didn’t do? Create anywhere near as much content as I thought I would. I took the pictures and videos, journaled, and jotted down tons of ideas. When it came down to it, I was too busy having fun, planning, working, and stressing the hell out to put my full effort into it. Vanlife challenged me in many ways; some challenges I rose to, others I backed down from. Being vulnerable at the time was something I wasn’t ready to do then.

But I am now.

Where am I now?

I’ll fast forward a bit to catch you up. After the van trip, I moved into a small house in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I’ve been enjoying increased time with family, working on myself, and still working full time.

It took seven months but I’m finally ready to tell my story and experiences.

What’s next?

I’m planning to be in St. Pete until January 2024, but have some fun and exciting things planned for next year. For now, I’m excited to go back into my archives from my year in the van and begin sharing with you. I’m also excited to dive back into sharing more about local spots and other travel experiences along the way.

In short: I’M BACK BABY!
